Protective Safety Eye Wear from our San Antonio Optometrist

Did you know 90% of eye injuries are preventable with proper safety eyewear?

Eye injuries are the leading cause of blindness in children, most being sports related.  High risk sports include those that use a ball, puck, bat stick or racquet.  Also at risk are those sports with any body contact, i.e fingers in eyes.  Unfortunately most youth sport leagues do not require the use of proper eye protection.

Athletes wearing glasses, as those with a family history of retinal holes or tears, are also at higher risk for eye injuries.  Prescription eyewear may break from blunt trauma and cause injuries ranging from mild abrasions to serious lacerations.  View the following video for a demonstration.
