Yearly eye exams are important for numerous reasons. Vision commonly changes from year to year, so it's important to have your vision checked on an annual basis. We even offer a 15% discount for new Patients!
Prescribing and fitting patients for eyeglasses and contact lenses are at the core of what we do. But it's not the only important thing we do!
Even if you have 20/20 vision, there are other important reasons to get a yearly exam from an optometrist. Dr. Palomino is a specialist in many of these conditions.
Many ocular problems go undiagnosed and unnoticed until they have been active for some time. These problems can cause anything from simple irritation to profound and irreversible loss of vision.
As with any other condition, preventing and early diagnosis of eye disease is much better for the patient when detected early in an exam by a qualified doctor. Dr. Palomino specializes in detecting and managing ocular diseases, including:
A contact lens exam is slightly different from an exam for glasses. A contact lens exam must include the size and shape of your cornea in order to be fitted properly for contacts. Improperly fitted contacts can be irritating at best; at worst, they can cause severe pain and even damage your eye. A prescription for contacts is very specific and should never be changed without a good Doctor's approval.
Dr. Palomino will also help you decide what kinds of contacts are best: daily disposable, 2 week disposable, monthly disposable contacts. These modalities can correct myopia, astigmatism, presbyopia, and hyperopia with special toric or multi-focal designs. There are also other options such as gas permeable contacts and scleral lenses. Dr. Palomino is also experienced with "hard to fit contacts" and eye types.
Vision screenings only catch a few of the vision problems that can affect learning. Checking your child's near vision, focus and binocularity is very important for school success. Plus, you'd be surprised how much your child's eyes can change in just one year! And, as with adults, it's important that a qualified optometrist check your child for signs of eye disease. Our staff will do our best to make your child's eye exam comfortable and even fun!
Doctor of Optometry, Dr. Palomino, has served the Shavano Park area of San Antonio for over twenty years. Over that time, she has assembled a qualified team dedicated to your family's ocular health!
